Journey with Cancer

Cancer-banner

I love the information here about Cancer and the gifts this sign offers. It represents the position in the Medicine Wheel of the 4th house as well. We can integrate the two in a very powerful imagery!

frog-clan-lg

“The water signs, Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio are all feminine/yin (with Scorpio being the power sign-fixed of the three). Cancer is the personal water sign; Pisces the more universal, compassionate water sign. Cancer is the sign of the Mother, the breasts, the stomach, the home, family; her cry is ‘I feel’. Cancer can feel into another person, know how it feels to be them, and so can be highly empathetic and even psychic. Cancer rules the 4th house in the zodiac, the one that sits at the bottom of the chart, and along with home and family, it rules our roots, our tribe and our ancestors. Our home is the seat of our private life, and the Moon ruler says this is where our security needs are met. Cancer is receptive, fertile, empathetic, nurturing and protective, as well as patient and supportive. Like summer, the season Cancer initiates, her direction is the South – the outer feminine that creates a basket, a home where love and connection can abide and life can be seeded, nurtured and carried forward to insure the generations.” Excerpt from Patricia Lilies

Journey with Gemini

Gemini-banner

I just watched this wonderful video on Facebook and it embodied the very essence of the Deer People … precious and innocent, sweet and loving. So, I’m adding this video to the BLOG and hope you enjoy!

The Life of Death is a touching hand drawn animation about the day Death fell in love with Life. After being well received on various animation festivals and being featured on the EYE film DVD of Selected Dutch Shorts it is finally online! It’s been viewed over one million times now! marshaonderstijn.com

The Life of Death from Marsha Onderstijn on Vimeo.

“Sad and beautiful at the same time. I think the deer at the end knew what she was doing. She seemed tired and couldn’t keep up with the rest of her herd which is why she put her nose to death’s hands. She didn’t want death to feel bad that one time….” JR. Houston, TX

There are many Native stories that share this belief and love for deer ~ they give their lives so that others may use their bodies to live; meat for food, skin for warmth, sinew to sew garments and so much more! <3 Love and honor for this beautiful 4 legged!

We’re finishing up the 2nd Quadrant in the wheel with our teachings with Wabun, Spirit Keeper of the East, the Golden Eagle, which gives the gift of courage, vision and fearlessness. “The gift of the Spirit Keepers is to teach us about the qualities we need to go from the outer part of the Medicine Wheel to the center”

Lets recap where we started this year with Waboose (White Buffalo) Spirit Keeper of the North healing our physical bodies and looking at how we relate to the world. We learned about CLEANSING (SODALITE) ~  RENEWAL (PERIDOT) ~ AND PURITY (Herkimer DIAMOND)

“The gift of  WABUN, Spirit Keeper of the East is the gift of healing the mental being. This is the healing that allows us to see the truth and to let go of all the lies we have been told and have accepted in our own minds” We’re learning about CLARITY (MICA) ~ WISDOM (JADE) ~ AND ILLUMINATION (CALCITE).

Gemini is mental and by asking for the gift of ILLUMINATION we are asking for the flow of Creator to freely flow through us and be able to relate to the world and see in truth what surrounds us. Combine this with Butterfly Clan and we can observe that energy with those born under this sign, flowing with the wind (Air sign)!

gemini-slideButterfly Clan (Air Signs), always in thinking mode they prefer to be light hearted, rather than serious.

Their Plant is Yarrow, used as a tonic for colds and flu and to strengthen the respiratory system.

Their Stone, Moss Agate, perfectly shows their duality, joining together the mineral and plant kingdoms.

Challenge: Their test is to live life in the fast lane while slowing down enough to hear their heart.

Gift:
Sharing their wit and cleverness in a way that brings out the best in others.

“I think” … all my relations deserve to be loved.

Journey with Taurus

taurus-banner

Welcome to my BLOG. I’ve decided to make this a little more personal rather than just another “article” to read. It feels like a more authentic path and this information is so special.  Thank you for your time and support, Sun Bear continues to inspire many of us, lets keep the dream alive! *

The last couple of nights I couldn’t sleep ~ so much on my mind about this GROUP forum and what it is. I started making Dream catchers for a meditation and remembered a few things.

I had the “vision” in the late 1980’s about the 12 signs of the zodiac while we camped right next to the McKenzie River in Oregon. We just finished going to Cougar Hot Springs … gorgeous old growth forest that you had to hike into and when we returned we built a nice fire to warm ourselves. Soon after the fire was blazing, I was circling it and “seeing” each of the characters in full regalia, with feathers and colors matching the energies of each! It was so exciting and vivid then, I can still see it now ~ I was left with a “dream” of what was to come and my purpose.

Not long after that is when I read “The Medicine Wheel: Earth Astrology” by Sun Bear & Wabun. I could hardly believe what I was reading, it was like “seeing” my vision in each of these signs!

Since I was an astrologer, I could also “see” how they each related and shared many of the same traits. My path was to combine and integrate Western Astrology with these MWA teachings … I AM doing my best to share that now. I would like to share the “Journey Through the Zodiac and Medicine Wheel” and see where it goes!

taurus-slideTaurus:
Beaver people are the manifestors, thinking ahead, providing their family with comforts and protection. They are hard working and tenacious.
*Taurus people have a deep appreciation for the finer things in life. They are determined to achieve their goals and love the comforts of a beautiful home!

Wabun, Spirit Keeper of the East, the Golden Eagle, gives the gift of courage, vision and fearlessness.
*Taurus people have tremendous power when using it as a protective quality, they don’t back down easily.

Turtle Clan (Earth Signs) are happiest when helping others and digging their roots into Mother Earth.
*Taurus people are practical and dependable, helping and assisting others, is where they shine.

Their Plant is Blue Camas. Natives used the bulbs as a food and natural sweetener said to controls blood sugar.

Their Stone is Chrysocolla, known for enhancing strength, stability, courage and prosperity.
*Taurus people usually love this aqua blue color, it soothes the nervous system with a calming effect.

Challenge: Overcoming stubbornness and a tendency to accumulate too many comforts.

Gift: Determination, teaching integrity, fortitude and the value of decency, by example.

“I Have” … the ability to provide whatever is needed.

Sounds like Taurus to me!  Love  *

Journey with Aries

Happy Spring Everyone! March 20th (this year) we celebrated the Spring Equinox and the days become lighter and longer as the teachings are now about new beginnings! Starting in astrology with the sign Aries, we see the childlike nature excited about life, baby animals, flowers and trees blooming and all the new experiences awaiting! In MWA it’s the same, Wabun flies into our consciousness and we believe in the magic of all life …  thank you to ALL OUR RELATIONS. AHO!

With Wabun Spirit Keeper of the East, we are bringing forth the “dreams” that were seeded and are bursting forth after the darkness of Winter, into the light of day.

If you’ll notice in the last cycle of Waboose (White Buffalo) we focused on “The Spirit path of the North is the gift of healing our physical being and our way of relating to the world. This is the healing that allows us to let go of disease and accept health.”  Now we begin a new teaching as well. “The Spirit path of the East is the gift of healing our mental being, focusing on clarity, wisdom and illumination.”

There are 3 Spirit Mineral Paths in each quadrant of the wheel and now we moved into the East. The first is ARIES the mineral is mica, the stone for clarity. We use the clarity stone mica when we want to communicate better, be clear with our visions or find ways to live simply. Next month we’ll discuss the 2nd stone which is jade and then the 3rd which is calcite.

In the MWA, the Animal Guide for Aries corresponds to the Sun sign for this month~ Red Hawk

aries-front-GC

Red Hawk People are adventurous, determined and proud. Their keen eyesight teaches them to be aware, alerting them and others to dangers and opportunities.

Wabun, the Spirit Keeper of the East, the Golden Eagle,  gives the gift of courage, vision and fearlessness.

Thunderbird Clan (Fire Signs) represents the ego and the “creative fire within” which manifests goals.

Dandelion is their Plant; the bold yellow/gold color expresses active, energetic lifestyles and detoxifies.

Opal is their Stone, which stimulates creativity to get things started and the fire energy to finish them.

Challenge: Focus on sharing with others, and “centering the Self” rather than being self-centered.

Gift: A childlike nature, lots of laughter and innocence that protects them from harm. They love to have fun.

“I Am” … ready for the adventure. Let the games begin!

aries-back-GC

Their compliment (opposite sign) is Libra … Raven. Reflections of opposites are often the best teachers, Ravens are the communicators and prefer socializing. Red Hawk prefers to be alone rather than “flock”, always seeking a new challenge or adventure! The gift is to see each other in a balanced way, without judgement, as unique and beautiful individuals ~ honoring ALL as equals in the medicine wheel.

Astro Update: The planet Mercury is in Aries until April 6-7th and it could be a time to LISTEN more instead of  pushing your own agenda. With Aries Sun until 4/19 we’ll be looking for diplomatic solutions to a “warrior” energy and learning to channel this energy into more productive Universal participation. We had a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse 3/23/16 in Libra and this carries through it’s teachings of “we” are the people striving for peace. May WE focus more on a balanced resolution for ALL of life on our Earth Mother and stay on the good red road!

To have a better understanding of these energies, you must get Sun Bear, Wabun Wind and Crysalis Mulligan’s book: “Dancing With The Wheel”  It is incredible to journey with such passion and clarity about this sacred path.

Journey with Pisces

pisces-banner

The Spirit Keeper of the North is Waboose. “The Spirit path of the North is the gift of healing our physical being and our way of relating to the world. This is the healing that allows us to let go of disease and accept health.”

waboose-lg

There are 3 Spirit Mineral Paths in each quadrant of the wheel. First is Capricorn, which is Sodalite. Second is Peridot, used for Aquarius; “brings the qualities of freshness, rebirth, beauty, lightness, balance, tranquility and fearlessness. ~ Peridot is best used by people who have gone through a cleansing or who have clarity.” Working with sodalite first is suggested, “for without cleansing, a renewal is unlikely. The third stone for Pisces, is the Herkimer Crystal; for “kindness, gentleness, clarity and wisdom”.

This completes the quadrant for the NORTH …

Dec. 22 – Jan. 19 (Snow Goose) Earth Renewal Moon ~ Cleansing (Outer North)

Jan. 20 – Feb. 18 (Otter) Rest & Cleansing Moon ~ Renewal (Middle North)

Feb. 19 – Mar. 20 (Cougar) Big Winds Moon  ~ Purity (Inner North)

Native-American-Divider23

In the astrological Medicine Wheel the Animal Guide for Pisces corresponds to the Sun sign for this month~ Cougar

pisces-front-GC

Cougar people are patient and watchful. The females are the hunters and aggressors, while the males need coaxing and reassurance. They love lying in the sun.

Waboose, Spirit Keeper of the North, the White Buffalo, represents ancient wisdom and loves tradition.

Frog Clan (Water Signs)ribits” for the rain to come, signaling we too must speak up for what we want!

Their Plant is the Plantain. Its tea is used to relieve lung problems and to neutralize poison and stomach acids.

Their Stone is Turquoise. It has been shown to be helpful for protection, self-confidence and to communicate visions and dreams.

Challenge: Overcoming complacency, letting go of their fantasy world and learning to participate with others.

Gift: Listening to one’s inner “knowing” and trusting one’s intuition. Resolving duality.

pisces-back-GC“I Believe” … everything is happening for us, not to us.

Their compliment is Virgo … Brown Bear. The reflection/mirror of “what is  life’s purpose?” and “how are you being of service?” Opposites of complacency (doing nothing) and finding ways to be healthy in body, mind and Spirit. Using their discernment while at the same time seeking balance is the opportunity.

Astro Update: 2016 is an excellent year to continue new health regimes, as Jupiter (a 12 year cycle) is in Virgo until July 2016. It assists  in seeing all the obstacles that keeps us from fulfilling our highest potential and also the possibilities to achieve that potential or dream. Bear is coming out of hibernation, we’ve been doing our clearing and when Spring arrives we can be ready!

Neptune & Chiron have been transiting together for some time now, both in Pisces, the dreamer, seer, healer and visionary.  This can be a time of confusion or incredible insight, as Jupiter is a helper and in Virgo will show us the details … we just need to be open and trust in the Divine Spirit. That’s the big jump … “We can do it now, or do it later. That is the choice.”*

As an astrologer I find it helpful to see what “house” these energies are in so they may be seen close up and personal! We have to acknowledge “it” to clear “it” ~ sometimes a mirror helps.

frog2clan

Water signs are from the Frog Clan, they feel emotions very deeply and are often quite psychic and intuitive! They often “take on” others feelings through empathy and may get overwhelmed or “damned up”. Water helps them to release!

Frog is especially connected to the Grandmother Moon and loves being close to water, which can be reflective as well as cleansing and refreshing. Full Moons are especially powerful times to get a picture of your dreams and visions … will they stay illusions, or become part of your reality?

To go deeper into the “dream” you must get Sun Bear, Wabun Wind and Crysalis Mulligan’s book: “Dancing With The Wheel”  It is incredible to journey with such passion and clarity about this sacred path.

Thank you for this opportunity and blessings to you all. Aho Mitakuye Oyasin (Gratitude To ALL my relations). *Star*
